Everything on this site is meant to give you an accurate, honest answer about who takes Medicare near you and what Medicare actually covers. Here's where our information comes from and how we keep it correct.
Our data source
Provider listings come from the CMS Doctors and Clinicians National Downloadable File — the official record of Medicare-enrolled clinicians, maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and used to power Medicare's own Care Compare tool. We don't add providers by hand or take listings from users; the data is the government's, and we organize it by state, city, and specialty.
What "accepts Medicare" means here
When we say a clinician accepts Medicare, that reflects their Medicare enrollment status in CMS records — it means they can bill Original Medicare for covered care. It is not a promise they're taking new patients, and it doesn't tell you whether a specific Medicare Advantage plan covers them. We're careful to keep those two facts separate throughout the site.
How we handle coverage facts (what Medicare does and doesn't pay for)
Coverage explanations — what Original Medicare covers for dental, vision, chiropractic, and other specialties — are written from Medicare.gov and CMS publications, not our own interpretation. We call out real gaps plainly (for example, Original Medicare's routine dental exclusion) rather than burying them under a directory listing. Where Medicare Advantage differs from Original Medicare, we say so.
Health content standards (YMYL)
Medicare decisions affect real coverage and out-of-pocket costs, so we hold this content to a higher bar. We link to official sources, we don't give medical or insurance advice, and we distinguish clearly between what's guaranteed nationally and what depends on your specific plan.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong — a wrong phone number, a closed office, an outdated coverage figure — use the thumbs-up / thumbs-down feedback box at the bottom of any page.
